Trisha retired from the NHS, having worked within the North West Cleft service for 35 years as a lead nurse and latterly as a Consultant Nurse. She undertook a research project in feeding methods and community support for families affected by cleft, which ultimately led to the development of the CNS role. She organised and led a specialist post graduate course for the role, led an active role in teaching and research, influenced policies regarding the management of these families and In 2010 she became the first Nurse President of the Craniofacial Society of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Since her retirement in 2014 she has been actively involved within the international cleft community.
